Steve and Dana L.O.V.E pickles. And I loved that they had a sign about it. And when two pickle-loving football fans decide to get married...the jersey must make an appearance in the engagement photos!
Their Salt River Engagement Session
We shot near the Salt River at sunset, and these two brought their whole personalities to the session. Steve's a Packers fan, Dana loves the Eagles, and they're both totally serious about pickles—which honestly makes them my kind of people. I love when couples bring props or wear things that actually mean something to them. It makes the photos feel real.
The Salt River at sunset is beautiful—warm light, desert landscape, dramatic skies. We moved around to different spots along the river, and they just went with it. Zero complaints, even though the mosquitoes were absolutely terrible that evening. And I mean terrible. We all got eaten alive, but they didn't let it ruin the vibe. They just laughed it off and kept going.

Tips for Desert Engagement Sessions
Bring Your Personality: The pickle sign and football jerseys made this session memorable. Don't be afraid to incorporate things you actually care about—it makes the photos way more interesting.
Sunset at Salt River is Worth It: Even with the bugs. The light is incredible, and the desert landscape creates such a dramatic backdrop.
Be Ready for Mosquitoes: Seriously, bring bug spray if you're shooting near the river in warmer months. Trust me on this one.
